‘ABEN, BoyAlmighty’ by Daniel B. Royer, immediately conjures up images of pretty much every single element that makes up an epic sci-fi and fantasy adventure. There’s just so many things at play that I feared that it’s going to be a haphazardly written mash up of trite plots and subplots. Well, my fear is unfounded because there are storylines that I find unique. I particularly like how Aben Egole’s DNA has mutative powers that are triggered by the changes in his emotions. It does feel a little ambitious with all the story elements put together, but it works on so many levels.

Great introduction to Fantasy for younger readers

By A Reading Machine on August 1, 2014

Format: Kindle Edition

3.5 Stars -
A great introduction to the world of Sci Fi and Fantasy for any young reader, it has a little bit of everything. There is so much creativity throughout the story, it’s obvious Royer has an incredible span to his imagination, his real challenge is whether he can focus it and truly draw us in before he whisks us off to his next fantastical thought.
‘ABEN, BoyAlmighty’ is easy to read and moves at a swift pace. Royer has jammed a lot in to this, the first book of the Egoles series, to establish and build his world in great detail. It’s a fascinating collection of moments with secret agents, bad guys, superpowers and everything a young reader loves, with that being said I think most kids would jump right into this and I’d recommend it for anyone between the ages of 8 to 15. I also think this would be a good book to read to your child as Royer raises the challenges of raising a young adult and so does not dumb it down. Your kid will finish this book having learnt some new words and having had their imagination stretched, I guarantee it.

Great YA Read

By Tiffany L. Davis on July 26, 2012

Format: Kindle Edition

4Stars-

Secrets of the Egole's Nest, by Daniel Royer, is a science fiction/fantasy style story. It is about a young boy named Aben who seems to be raised mostly by his nanny. It follows Aben as he comes into his own and grows to learn who he is. Nastera is introduced early in the story and we learn that she is from an alien race. Nastera has been searching for Aben, who has powers that couldn't even be imagined to a young boy.
I enjoyed this story. I think Royer did a pretty good job at creating this story line and painting a picture for his readers. I would highly recommend this book to a younger audience that likes the science fiction and fantasy genre. It's a quick and easy read. The contents of the story are light, but no so much that it takes away from the feel for the story. Great job to the author.

The Biography of an American Poet

ISBN-13: 978-1608139248

This is the first book in a two book series. The pages inside contain short stories written in poetic verse. What I created, are special memories from my past. Afterwards, I cultivated the feelings I felt as I moved through each story. I’ve been told that the stories are reminiscent of Dr. Seuss. Although these are not silly children stories, but true stories meticulously recreated so that the reader is profoundly engaged.

Poetic Biography of an
American Baby Boomer

ISBN-13: 978-1448954162

This is the second book in a two book series. The pages inside this book also contain poetic stories, chronologically placed as I moved through life, from child to parent. Having written these short stories from my past was truly enlightening as well therapeutic. Cultivated the feelings as I moved through each story helped me better understand the man I am today. This one book in the two book series, also gave me a broader understanding of creative writing. Having this knowledge compelled me to further my ambitious nature by writing a science-fiction series.
